Bernard J. “Ben” Ubelhor, age 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away after 3 days of being surrounded by family at 10:51 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at his caregiver and daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Norm Toomey’s home.
Ben was born July 20, 1929, in Evansville, IN, to Michael and Mary (Lamey) Ubelhor. He graduated from Memorial High School, and he was a Veteran in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1990, Ben retired from Alcoa after working in maintenance for 25 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Ben is survived by his daughters, Cindy Toomey (Norm) and Wanda Lambert (Greg); sons, Mel Ubelhor (Karen Baker), Dennis Ubelhor (Laurie), and Glenn Ubelhor; sisters, Mary Lou Davis and Eileen Goldbach; brothers, Charlie Ubelhor and Ray Ubelhor (Shirley); 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 50 years, Thelma (Baumgart) Ubelhor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 2301 North Stockwell Road with Father Jack Durchholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue and from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Monday, October 21, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
