Bert E. Pfingston, age 93, of Evansville, IN, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville.
Bert was born March 20, 1926, in Evansville, IN, to Samuel “Major” Pfingston and Ruby May (Martin) Pfingston. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church for over 50 years. Bert was a Veteran in the United States Army during World War II and served in the 83rd Infantry as a gunner on the front lines. He owned and operated Pfingston Block and Concrete for 60 years. Bert loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 77 years, Margie (Dues) Pfingston; children, Jerry Pfingston (Margie); Barbara O’Brien (Pat), Vickey Casey (Ray); sister, Evelyn Dismore; grandchildren, Judy Lamborn (Curt), Christy Harris (John), Michelle Schutt (Randy), Jerry Pfingston, Jr. (Tricia), Brian Scarbrough, Melinda Miller, Tony Pfingston, Barbie Meier, Shana Juncker (Jim), Lisa O’Brien, Josh Pfingston, Matthew Pfingston (Misty); 18 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Tony Pfingston.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Bo Harris officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform full military rites.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
