Billy M. Maikranz, 92, of Evansville, IN, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019, at River Pointe Health Campus, Evansville, IN.
Billy was born July 3, 1927, in Evansville, IN, to Victor and Hilda (Martin) Maikranz. He is a graduate of Mackey High School and Lain Technical College. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 39 years as a drafting engineer. Billy enjoyed growing tomatoes, wood working and visiting with family and friends.
Billy was a World War II Army Veteran who was stationed at West Point Military Academy, West Point, NY, as an Artillery Instructor. He was particularly humbled to be a member of Evansville’s EVV4 Honor Flight to Washington, DC, on April 16, 2016.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Marion (Clark) Maikranz; sons, William (Pam) of Fenton, MO, Walter (David Sassanella) of Fort Wayne, IN, Wayne (Phillip Bogle) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Julie Maikranz Stratman (Aaron Stratman) and Jane Reuter (Scott); great grandchildren, Kate, Jonah, Will, Rachel, and Anna Stratman and Ella, Bradley, Jameson and Maverick Reuter; brother, Victor Darvin Maikranz of Mackey, IN; sister-in-law, Joanna Maikranz of Princeton, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Billy is preceded by his parents, Victor and Hilda Maikranz; brothers, Kenneth and Robert; and sisters, Lois Morgan (Henry) and Mara Lou Williams (Jim).
Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Providence Cemetery, Somerville, IN.
Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2019, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN.
