Brett Hilsmeyer

Brett Hilsmeyer, age 53, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.

Brett was born in Huntingburg, IN, to Diane (Hilsmeyer) Leon. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1983. Brett attended Ball State University before transferring and graduating from Indiana University in 1987. He was member of Salem United Methodist Church and former member of Zoar United Methodist Church in Holland, IN. Brett served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Holland American Legion Post 343 and Boonville American Legion Post 200. Brett was a 16 year veteran of the Evansville Police Department. He was employed as a security officer at The Deaconess Gateway and Women’s Hospital. Brett loved spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter.

Brett is survived by his mother, Diane Leon; loving wife, Tracie (Bell) Hilsmeyer; son, Chase Hilsmeyer (Malin Pirnay); stepdaughter, Kacie Jones (Sam); stepsons, Justin Hagenseiker (Jessica) and Jacob Fink (Jessica); siblings, Brian Leon (Kaci) and Kristina Reed (Scott); best friend, Tom Benner and his daughter, Delaney Benner; and nieces, Veronica and Sloane.

Brett is preceded in death by his stepfather, Dr. Mario Leon.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue with Darren Sroufe officiating. Burial will be Private.

Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
