Charles H. Whitfield, age 85, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Woodmont Health Campus.
Charles was born January 8, 1934, in Mannington, KY, to Richard C. and Thelma L. (Cannon) Whitfield. He graduated from Cental High School in 1953 and attended Lane’s Drafting School. Charles was a Veteran in the United States Marines. In 1979, he accepted Christ as his Savior at Gateway Baptist Church. Charles later attended Boonville First Assembly of God and has been a member there since 1990. In 1999, he retired from Robur Corporation after 41 ½ years of service. Charles loved his family and enjoyed fishing, caving, arrowhead hunting, and witnessing to people and sharing the Gospel.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Florence “Aileen” (Taylor) Whitfield; daughters, Kimberly Hurst (David) of Boonville, IN, and Karen Fitzpatrick (David) of Terre Haute, IN; son, Charles Whitfield (Tammy) of Boonville, IN; grandchildren, Scott (Cynthia), Anthony (Monica), Andrew (Kristen), Christina (Cody), Brandon (Jessica), Daniel (Chelsey), Matthew, Charles (Bailey), Sherri, and Kimberly; 26 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Thelma Whitfield; brother, Richard Whitfield; and granddaughter, Brandi Branch.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Chris Brown and Pastor Jeff Edmundson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery where full military rites will be rendered by the American Legion Kapperman Post 44 and the United States Marines.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Monday, October 7, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
