Clara L. (Butler) Hillyard

Clara L. Hillyard, age 87, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 8:20 am on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Bell Oaks Place, Newburgh.

Clara was born in Clay, KY, December 8, 1930, to the late James Lofton Butler and Ora D. (Riden) Butler. She graduated from Webster County High School in 1947 and worked in retail all of her career, which she loved.

She is survived by her step-children, Connie Moore (Greg) of Evansville, Debbie McConnell (Todd), and Teresa Foster (Matthew), both of Princeton, IN, Michael Hillyard (Kathy) of Princeton, IN, and Mark Hillyard (Susan) of North Carolina; sister, Stella Brown of Salem, KY; grandchildren, Jesse Harris and Micah Castro (Sherry); and several great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 46 years, James “Jim” R. Hillyard; daughter, Yvonne Janie Harris; son, Maurice “Frenchie” Culver; sister, Mina Sue Grote; and brothers, Encil Butler and Carl Wayne Butler.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Randy Bechtel officiating. Entombment will follow in Park Lawn Mausoleum.

Friends may visit from 9:30 am until time of service at 11:30 am, Saturday, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bell Oaks Place for the wonderful care and all the love they showed Clara.  She loved you all and loved being there.
