Darrell Edward Johnson, 79, of The Villages, FL went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 2:57 PM at Cornerstone Hospice House, The Villages, FL. He was surrounded by his family.
Darrell was born November 16, 1938 in Bowling Green, KY to the late Woody and Ora (Jaggers) Johnson.
Darrell was a paratrooper in the US Army. For several years, he was in The Calverymen Quartet, Marion, IL and loved his Lord and church. He was the owner of Quality Mobile Homes, Marion, IL and Federated Marketing, Inc. (Insurance Sales) in Evansville, IN. He attended Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville, IN and Tri-County Baptist Church, Lady Lake, FL. After retiring in 2005, he enjoyed playing golf, avid sports fan, singing and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Billie (Mitchell-Elles) Johnson and his children, Kim (Jeff) Wood of Brownsburg, IN, Ken (Marquita) Johnson of Madison, TN and Rick (Jolene) Johnson of Marion, IL, Eddie, Cheri, Gayla Johnson and Melissa (Jonathan) Snyder, all of Bowling Green, KY. His grandchildren, Lindsey Wood, Blake and Neal Johnson, Carson Knab, Heather and Caitlyn Johnson. His siblings, Pat (Gene) Frank, David (Irene) Johnson and Jenny Castellano. Step-Son Jay Siekmann, Step Granddaughter Candice (Shane) Siekmann and Step Great Granddaughters Chloe and Riley. He had several nieces and nephews and his best friend Pete Avripas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 40 years, Sharon (Weber) Johnson, Sister Charlcie Burden, Brother, Daymon Johnson and nephew Craig Frank.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Pastor Dale Beaver officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 and from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
