Donald E Taylor

Donald E. Taylor, 90, of Evansville passed away at 7:45 am, Friday, September 15, 2017 at Columbia Health Care.

Don was born February 24, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of the late Reverend Russell and Eunice (Cook) Taylor. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII in Japan, where he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal. Donald was married to Virginia “Ginny” Kincaid on New Year’s Eve, 1948 by his father. He always said it was love at first sight. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church and later years attended Boeke Road Baptist Church. Donald retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1984 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed building automobiles and air planes. All who knew him loved him.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 68 years, Virginia “Ginny” Taylor; daughter, Lanette Kissel; and granddaughter, Christina Betz, all of Evansville.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Marilyn Lane, Joy Wegel, and Seth Taylor.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 pm, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville with Reverend Gayle Russ  officiating. Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Club will perform full military rites. Burial will be in Hackelman Cemetery, Chrisney, IN.   

Friends may visit from 10 am until time of service at  12 pm, Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
