Dorothy Louise (McRoy) Simon

Dorothy Louise (McRoy) Simon, age 95, of Evansville, IN, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019, at The Good Samaritan Home.

Dorothy was born September 10, 1924, in Rumsey, KY, to Ellsworth and Cora (Jones) McRoy. She attended Central High School and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. Dorothy was a homemaker who later worked with her husband at Simon Jewelers. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, and playing cards, and she absolutely loved playing table games with the grandkids.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Hutchison (Ed) of Evansville, IN; sons, Gary Simon of Evansville, IN, and Michael Simon of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; grandchildren, Lee Ann Mellon (Mike) of Munster, IN, Britt Hutchison (Shannon Hopkins) Carmel, IN, Amy Sue Simon of Atlanta, GA, Lori Ann Stephens (Mike) of Cypress, TX, Christopher Simon of California, and Michelle Simon Cushing (Cameron) of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; great grandchildren, Jake Stephens, Peyton Stephens, Benjamin Mellon, Samuel Mellon, Nathan Hutchison, Delaney Hutchison, and Russell Cushing; and niece, Lynn Simon Bailey of Evansville, IN; and other extended family members.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 77 years, Oscar Junior Simon, who passed away in 2006; and sisters, Gladys Smith and Mary Evelyn Simon.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor David Cullison and Mike Mellon officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.  

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
