Edna "Lucille" Ashlock

Edna “Lucille” Ashlock, age 97, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Evansville Protestant Home.

Lucille was born January 1, 1921, in Russellville, KY to Harvey Ashlock and Alice (Talley) Ashlock.  After graduating high school, she received a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky State Teachers College (now Western Kentucky University) and began her Indiana teaching career in Boonville.  She later taught at Washington Elementary School in Evansville during which time she received her Master’s Degree from Vanderbilt University.  After retirement, Lucille traveled extensively, enjoyed ballroom dancing and volunteered with AARP to assist in tax preparation.  She also was a Championship Bridge Player.

Lucille is survived by nephew, Dennis Penick (Barbara) and nieces, Linda Ford and Cynthia Dickinson (Keith) of Russellville, KY. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Katherine Penick; and niece, Alice Cox.

Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Green Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, 7395 Highland Lick Rd, Lewisburg, KY 42256 with Gary Dawson officiating.
