Esmer A. Nixon

Esmer A. (Allway) Nixon, 91, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at 7:20 am, Saturday, December 02, 2017 at Walnut Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center.

She was born in Hopkins County, KY, October 24, 1926, the daughter of Sidney and Gladys (Parkest) Allway.  Esmer was a 35-year member of Calvary Baptist Church and more recently a 10-year member at First Baptist Church.  She worked at Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson and retired from St. Mary’s (Welborn Hospital) in 2000 after 22 years of service as a unit secretary. 

Esmer is survived by her son, Holeman Lee Key (Sheila) of Henderson, KY; sister, Sarah Thompson (Bud) of Louisville, KY; granddaughter, Miriam Key, and nieces, Phyllis Dalton, and Beth Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband of 37 years, Earle in 2014.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Steven Claspell officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Madisonville, KY.

Friends may visit from 10 am until time of service at 1 pm, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home.
