Evelyn Carey

Evelyn L. Carey, age 96, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 12 noon on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Hamilton Pointe.

Evelyn was born August 22, 1921, in Boonville, IN, to the late Oscar C. and Berneda (Hudson) Wunderlich. She graduated from Bosse High School. Evelyn was a previous charter member and Sunday School Teacher of First Southern Baptist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved to can homegrown vegetables and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia McDonald of Owensville, IN and Kathy Eichner (Eric) of Evansville; sons, Tom Carey (Debbie) of Mount Juliet, TN, Ralph Carey (Alice) of Sautee Nacahoochee, GA and Mark Carey of Nashville, TN; brothers, Louie Wunderlich of Evansville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 68 years, Harold Carey; brothers, Frank Fuquay, Fritz Wunderlich, George Wunderlich, Jim Wunderlich, and Byron Joe Wunderlich.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Hamilton Pointe and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and compassion.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Jerry Daniels officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Mausoleum.  

Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 22, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
