Evelyth Maxine (McArthy) Wright

Evelyth Maxine (McArthy) Wright, age 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2019, at Heritage Center.

Evelyth was born July 17, 1929, in White County, IL, to Arnot and Pearl (Draper) McArthy. She was a 1947 graduate of Norris City High School and a graduate of Lockyear Business College. Evelyth was a 70 year member of Central United Methodist Church. She was PTA president at Vogel School, enjoyed flowers, quilting, traveling, playing Bridge, and was an active participant of the Women’s Nine – Hole Group at Fendrich Golf Course. She worked in various positions for EVSC including secretarial work and Classroom Assistant at the Evansville Children’s Psychiatric Center.     

Evelyth is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, William Edward Wright; daughters, Rebecca Whipple (David) of Evansville and Susan Wright of Denali Park, AK; son, Bruce Wright (Anne) of Evansville; brothers, Keith McArthy (Anna Mae) and Lowell McArthy (Sue), both of Norris City; grandchildren, Jennifer Pusateri, Jonathan Wright, Zac Winstead, Whitney Huang, Andrew Whipple, Alex Whipple, and Sam Whipple; great grandchildren, Kira, Sadie, Lily, Benjamin, Brandon, Isaac, and Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyth is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lyndell Brown; and brother, Darrol McArthy.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Central United Methodist Church, 300 Mary Street, Evansville with Reverend Dewey Miller officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville and from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Central United Methodist Church.
