Gerald Sandoval, Jr. Obituary

On Sunday, July 29th, 2018 Heaven welcomed another kind and gentle soul into the pearly gates to walk on streets of gold and to fish the best lakes and rivers for eternity.

Gerald Lee Sandoval, Jr. was born to Gerald Lee Sandoval, Sr. and Mildred (Burns) Sandoval on November 23,1959 in Evansville, Indiana.

UP Jerry, as he was commonly known, was raised in Vanderburgh and Warrick counties. Early in life he began his love affair with fishing. Most weekends you could find him out in his boat on the Ohio River. He loved nature and God’s creatures. The list of pets he had is extensive and include the likes of dogs, fish, snakes, birds, rabbits, turtles and sugar gliders. Jerry was a “collector” of things. Family and friends would joke about the path you had to take to get through his garage. However, if you needed something from his “collection” he would give it to you in a heartbeat. He was a giver and would give you the shirt off his back if he knew you needed it. Jerry loved spending time with his family and was always up for a picnic or cookout where he was the master griller and a horseshoe king.

Jerry worked in the carpeting and flooring industry most of his life. Recently he was feeling bad and went to the hospital. There they diagnosed him with cancer. The next four months he battled and fought the good fight. Most would say that he lost the battle with cancer. However, in reality he is home now, so he wins. He was only traveling through this world. Home now is where there are no more sorrows, pain or tears. There to welcome him home were his dad, a brother and sister he never got to meet, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, Elizabeth (Stahl) Sandoval, daughter, Tina Marie Sandoval, granddaughters, Madisyn Rachelle and Brecklyn Marie, mother, Mildred Crowe, sisters, Tammy Phelps and Terry (Scott) Spradley, in-laws, outlaws, cousins, and friends.
