Herman "Gene" Eugene West

Herman Eugene “Gene” West went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2018 at the age of 84.

Herman was born December 11, 1933, to the late Herman West and Nellie (Gish) West in Henderson, KY. Herman was a veteran of the United States Army, and he went on to work at Swift & Co and retire from Alcoa. Herman was a member of Mt. Olive General Baptist Church for over 40 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Charlotte (Gibson) West; daughter, Elizabeth West; son, Donald West; grandchildren, Logan (Lyndsay) Patberg and Hannah (Noah) Patberg; great-grandchild, Oskar Patberg; brother, William (Shirley) West; several nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Corrine Huffman, Frances Clary, Virble Brann, and Ethlene Mattingly; and brothers, John Edward West and Shirley West.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 26, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Ken Slater officiating. Burial and U.S. Army Funeral Honors will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. 

Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
