JB Simmons, age 77, of Evansville, IN, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at home.
JB was born November 7, 1941, in Muncie, IN, to CB and Mary Rosalie (Hill) Simmons. He graduated from Newton Community High School in 1959 and was a member of Crossroads Christian Church. JB was a lifelong restaurateur beginning with Dog & Suds in Newton, IL, followed by Burger Chef in Olney, IL, Kentucky Fried Chicken in Carlinville, IL, Robinson, IL, Linton, IN, Mount Carmel, IL, and Olney, IL. JB’s crowning achievement was founding and creating the Award-Winning Shyler’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant in Evansville, March 1991.
JB is survived by his daughters, Tana LeMay (Dennis) of Gila, IL, and Bridgett Simmons of Effingham, IL; sons, Shawn Simmons (Susan) of O’Fallon, MO, and Tyler Simmons (Meghan) of Diamond Bar, CA; brother, Ron Simmons (Brenda) of Bowling Green, KY; and grandchildren, Mitch LeMay, Eric LeMay, Britton Quick, Ky Stanley, Andrew Simmons, Daniel Simmons, and Alex Simmons.
JB is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Miller.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Parkview Christian Church at 11467 North 1550 Boulevard, Mount Carmel, IL. Burial will be Private.
Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until service time, Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Parkview Christian Church.
