James L. Clayman of Hillsboro, MO, formerly of Evansville, IN, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Brooking Park Hospice Care in St. Louis.
James was born November 4, 1936, in Brisol, VA, to J. Howard and Mary Clayman. He served as a navigator in the Air Force. He excelled in business, retiring as Executive Vice President of Woolworth Corp. James was a member of 1st Baptist Church, Festus, MO. His interests included reading, working in his yard, music, and taking care of his dogs. James treasured time spent with his family. He enjoyed making people laugh and always had a story to tell. He will be missed.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy. He is survived by his three children, Cate Hall (Scott), Karen Felty, and Jim Clayman (Kathy) all of St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Clayman of New York City, Christopher Clayman of San Francisco, Cory Clayman of Chicago, Zak Hall (Erin) of Kansas City, and Ben Hall, Matthew Montanye, and Kyle Brady, all of St. Louis; one great-grandchild, Madelyn Montanye; and two sisters, Joyce Brothers (Orlanda) of Newburgh and Betty Schmitt (Joe) of Evansville.
A private memorial gathering was held for the family on April 14. James had donated his body to Washington University for medical research.
