James Q. “Jim” Davis, age 84, of Newburgh, IN, went to be with the Lord at 1:49 a.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital Evansville.
Jim was born November 25, 1934, in Fentress County, TN, to Isaac Samuel Davis and Ava Frances (Beatty) Davis Reagan. He was a member of Mt. Olive General Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Jim graduated from National Hardwood Lumber Association Inspector Training School in Memphis, TN and retired after 40 years as a Hardwood Lumber Inspector. He always thanked God that he had a trade he loved. Jim loved to garden and was known for his delicious tomatoes. His favorite pastime was reading and studying God’s Word.
James is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol (Wolf) Davis; daughter, Gayle Davis of Newburgh, IN; son, Ryan Davis of Noblesville, IN; sisters, Maxine Watkins (Allen) of Crossville, TN and Corrine Conatser (Ruble) of Jamestown, TN; 6 sisters-in-law, 1 additional brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Ken Slater officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Hackleman Cemetery in Spencer County.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2018 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
