Jeannine Crawford Smith Eberhard

Jeannine Crawford Smith Eberhard, age 89, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 4:54 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Newburgh Health Care.

Jeannine was born October 8, 1928, in Evansville, IN, to the late William E. Crawford and the late Golda Mae (Geiselman) Crawford. She attended Delaware Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1947. Jeannine loved music and played trumpet at both schools. She was in the first graduating class of LPN school and went on to work as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital and Good Samaritan’s Home. Jeannine was a member of Phi-Beta Psi Sorority. She was a Room Mom for Brownies, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts. She loved crafts, jewelry, ceramics, bowling, treasure hunting, and showing and grooming her llamas. Jeannine had a cabin at Kentucky Lake where she spent most of her summers fishing. She was the grandma of the neighborhood and loved doing things for and with the kids. She was such a giving person and loved lending a helping hand. One of her great pleasures was watching TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network).

Jeannine is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Deters (P.R. Deters II) and Terri Chevalier; step-daughters, Susie Phillips and Mary Schindler (Butch); son, Carey Smith; brother, Ron Crawford (Doris); grandchildren, Stacey Smith Jolly, Rob Deters (Kristina), Matt Deters (Katie), Jon Deters (Diana), Cody Stilwell (Andrea), and Daniel Chevalier (Jessica); and 9 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 20 years, W. Burnell Smith; their son, Mark Smith; her loving husband of 24 years, Charles Eberhard; and brother, Bill Crawford.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Randy Bechtel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.  

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Friday, January 12, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
