John Lewis Armstrong, age 75, of Homosassa, FL, passed away at 10:47 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Brooksville, FL.
John was born January 1, 1944, in Evansville, IN, to Robert J. & Louannah (Bence) Armstrong. He graduated from Central High School in 1962 and was a four-year Veteran of the United States Air Force, stationed from 1963-1964 in Osan, Korea. John was a career aviation man, retiring from the Federal Aviation Administration in Indianapolis in 1995 after 30 years as an air traffic controller and supervisor.
John loved his Savior, his wife, his family, his church, his garage, his big screen television, and Nascar.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sharon (Hunt) Armstrong; sons Alan Scott Armstrong (Sara) of Westfield, IN, Gary Lee Armstrong (Chela) of New Braunfels, TX, and John Robert Armstrong of Bloomington, IN; daughter Nicole Katherine Spivey (David) of Inglis, FL; sisters, Wilma “Ann” Coleman (Jack) of Evansville, IN and “Ruth” Elaine Watkins (Jack) of Umatilla, FL; brothers, David Lee Armstrong (Christine) of Edgewater, FL and Robert J. Armstrong, II (Marsha) of Evansville, IN; and grandchildren, Zachery Lee, Keaton John, Garrett Luke, Willow Rebecca, Aiden Scott, John Lewis “Jack,” & Chelsea Nicole.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Roberta Jean (Homer) Smith and Mary Sue Drysdale.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME, EAST CHAPEL located at 5330 Washington Avenue.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel with Reverend Gary Armstrong, John’s son, officiating. Burial will proceed funeral services at Sunset Memorial Park.
