John O. Dixon

John O. Dixon, 74, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 2:45 pm, Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Linda White Hospice House. He was born in Mt. Vernon on New Year’s Eve, 1942, son of the late Grover and Flora Louise (Emory) Dixon. John proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then made his career as a Tow Boat Engineer. He was a member of the American Legion. John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Phyllis Dixon; children, Vicki Francis and Wes Dixon; siblings, Betty Johnson and Jerry Dixon; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Mary and James Dixon and his brother Daniel Dixon.
