John T. Oran, age 93, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 6, 1924, in Clay, KY, to Smith & Dixie (Watson) Oran. He graduated from Wheatcroft High School. John worked for General Foods as the Milling Department Supervisor for 38 years. He was the Past Worthy Patron of Robert Morris Eastern Star, 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #64. Since 1950, his hobby and passion has been training and owning thoroughbred race horses at Ellis Park. John was a lifetime member of Morningside Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
John is survived by his daughter, Glenda Gilham (Robert), of Evansville, IN, grandson, Robert John Gilham (Clare), of Broadview Heights, OH, and his loving companion of 10 years, Pammy Schaber,
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Velda “Sue” Oran, brother, William Curry, sisters, Dorothy Franklin & Georgia Puckett.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor James Messer officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
