John Edgar Schweig, 82, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Westside Care Center in Frankfort, ILL.
He worked for Franks Remodeling for 12 years and worked for Swift & Co. for 13 years. He had also worked as a carpenter in the Army Corps of Engineers.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Calvert of Evansville; a sister, Ruth Kissel of Tennyson, Ind.; two grandchildren, Jack and Larry Calvert; nieces and nephews; and Irene Conlon, a friend who cared for him.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, Ind., with military rites, the Rev. Jeff Edmonson officiating. There will be no visitation at Boone Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boonville’s First Assembly of God Church.
