Joseph E. Floyd

Joseph E. Floyd, 86, of Evansville, died Saturday, Aug. 11,2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of heart failure. He taught school for 40 years, teaching in Indiana at Bloomfield, Elberfeld, Jasper and Evansville’s Fulton Grade School. He retired in 1978 from Harrison High School. He was an ordained minister of the Christian Church, a Disciple of Christ and served the Owensville Christian Church for 16 years.

He was a 1936 graduate of In­diana State University and a 56-year member of Bethany Christ­ian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary E.; two daughters, Julie A. Floyd of Evansville and Mary Janet Jones of Warner Robins, Ga.; two sons, Robert F. of Memphis and Dr. James J. of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister, Nina Bush of Bell Buckle, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Linda Stiles, Matthew D. and Michael C. Jones and Jennifer Lynn, Ja­son Robert, Jeanette Louise and David James Floyd; and a great­grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Will Jewsbury officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Funeral home.
