Julie M. (Andry) Mitchell, age 91, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Bethel Manor.
Julie was born September 29, 1926, in Norco, LA, to the late Louis A. and Georgina (Madere) Andry. She worked at Shoppers Fair from the time it first opened until it closed. Julie went on to work at Wesselmans and retired in 1988. She was later a volunteer at Deaconess Ohio Valley Hospice. Julie was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and highly involved with their Seniors Club. She was a member of Legion of Mary at St. Benedict Catholic Church, American Legion Post #195 Auxiliary in Norco, LA, and VFW Post #3337 Auxiliary in LaPlace, LA. Julie loved her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved telling them stories and spending time with them.
She is survived by her son, David E. Mitchell (Patty) of Evansville, IN; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Mitchell of Evansville, IN, Debbie Mitchell of Evansville, IN, and Marie Mitchell of Newburgh, IN; sisters, Betty Melancon of Baton Rouge, LA, Helen Andry Nation of LaPlace, LA, and Donna F. Torres of LaPlace, LA; brother, Jules Andry of LaPlace, LA; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edgar Mitchell, who passed away in 1998; sons, Thomas L. Mitchell, and Timothy A. Mitchell and Donald M. Mitchell; sisters, Cecile Martin, Edna Carmouche and Ethel McLoed; brothers, Warren Andry and George F. Andry; and grandson, Nick Mitchell.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Bethel Manor for the excellent care and attention Julie received.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S Green River Rd, Evansville with Father Gene Schroeder officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Mausoleum.
Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville and from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Friday, February 2, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
