Nancy S. (Sugg) McCormick

Nancy S. McCormick, age 85, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 2:43 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019, at River Pointe Health Campus.

Nancy was born July 28, 1933, in Henderson, KY to Rayburn Sugg, Sr. and Mattie Belle (Davis) Sugg. She was a homemaker and executive housekeeper. Nancy especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed traveling, animals, shopping, knitting, and cooking.

Nancy is survived by her son, Retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Michael David Melvin (Zane); son-in-law, Dan Wagner; grandchildren, Brian David Melvin (Christine), Christopher Paul Melvin (Amanda), Noah Ethan Melvin, Denae Melvin-Wagner, Angel Melvin, Kenneth Wagner and Shannon Wagner; great grandchildren, Lia Justine Melvin, Lilly Grace Melvin, Lyza Faith Melvin, Charlotte Karen Melvin, Madysyn Ronelle Kleinfelter and Julian Melvin; sister, Martha Ann (Sugg) Oliver; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John McCormick who was a local businessman and served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII; daughter, Virginia Ann Melvin-Wagner who was a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel; siblings, Rayburn Sugg, Jr., Sara Virginia (Sugg) Johnson, and US Navy Veterans, John David “Jack” and David Allen Sugg.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Drs. Rieti and Sash as well as their office staff; Adam and staff at River Pointe Health Campus; and Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Stephanie and Jamie, for their care, compassion and medical expertise. The family would also like to thank Kathy Snyder and Dixie Menke whose special relationship with Nancy went beyond the role of caregiving. Thank you also to Pastor Ernie Godshall and prayer warriors at Faith Bible Church.        

Mike would like to especially recognize his wife, Zane, for her loving, sacrificial care and friendship to his mom. The love you two shared is forever.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Ernie Godshall officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Henderson, KY.  

Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2019 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service, Thursday, July 25, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
