Neal E. Marvel, 81, of Evansville, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at home. He retired from Whirlpool in 1984 after 22 years as a press operator. He then
worked 10 years at GFI Pharmaceutical. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran with service as a radio operator. He served in Burma, India and China and made 79 missions over the Himalayas. He taught Sunday school for 54 consecutive years and held offices at Church of the Nazarene in Mackey, Ind.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Rosemary (Doerner); two daughters, Diana Thompson of Evansville and Debra Adamson of Newburgh; a son, Stewart Neal of Griffin, Ind.; a sister, Erma Crocken of Fairview Heights, 111*; a brother, Billy Ernest of Fort Myers, Fla.; five grandchildren, Kimberly Morrison, Amie Demining, Billy Adamson and Joseph and Jonathan Marvel; two great- granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mackey Church of the Nazarene, the Revs. Bill Reed and Thomas Hill officiating, with burial in Sunset Park Cemetery with military rites by Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Association.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.
