Philip N. Austin, age 81, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 11:14 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Philip was born December 14, 1937, in Evansville, IN, as the only child of Wayne and Hilda (Jones) Austin. He graduated from Bosse High School and attended both Freed-Hardeman College and the University of Evansville. Philip was a lifelong member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and Bible class teacher. Philip was a boilermaker with International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 374 for 35 years. He and his wife, Sharon, built and maintained Austin Square Apartments along with other real estate holdings. Philip enjoyed travel, auctions and collectibles.
Philip is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Sharon (McKendree) Austin; daughter, Debra Day (Roger) of Avon, IN; son, Steven Austin of Evansville, IN; daughter, Phyllis Warren (Greg) of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Dwayne Day, Zachary Warren, Logan Warren, Laura (Day) Bowman, Austin Warren, Natalie Day, KayLee Warren; and 4 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and infant son, David Daniel Austin.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2019 at Washington Avenue Church of Christ, 4001 Washington Ave, Evansville with Stephen Rogers and Carl Goad officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 17, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, Monday, November 18, 2019 at Washington Avenue Church of Christ.
