Raymond W. “Ray” White, 87, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 3:32 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at his son’s residence with his loving family surrounding him.
Ray was born May 8, 1931, in Evansville, IN, to Harvey & Mary L. (Miller) White. He attended Central High School and was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ. Ray retired from Signal Delivery as a truck driver. After retirement, Ray worked at Zeidler Floral Company, Comaier Service and Boone Funeral Home. Ray took great pride in his woodworking skills and was a master cabinet maker. He enjoyed fishing, in his spare time.
He is survived by wife, Peggy, of 32 years, daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Lawrence, of Greenville, IN, and Karen Stogner (Chuck), of Evansville, sons, John T. White and Lee “Pete” White, both of Evansville; step daughter, Cheryl Ann Winsett (Pete), of Jacksonville, FL, and stepson, Gerald L. “Jerry” Smith (Randa), of Evansville; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Ray is preceded in death by his first wife, Frances (Sparks) White in 1985, granddaughter, Dawn Jorgensen in 2017, parents; sisters, Beulah Johnston and Thelma Craner, brothers, Harvey, Herschel, and Elmer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Mark Sirnic officiating. Burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL and from 10:00 a.m. until time of Service on Wednesday.
