Rose Borman Obituary

Rose Borman passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on November 8, 2018 at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville.

Rose was born Rose Anna Weitkamp on February 1, 1934 and grew up on a small farm outside of Stendal, IN. Rose lost her mother, Helen, at the age of 2 and her father, Clarence, at the age of 10. She was raised by her older sisters and a brother who lived and worked on the farm with her. A favorite childhood memory she often shared with us was her excitement of receiving an orange at Christmas.  This humble memory has often reminded us of how important the tiniest of blessings are in our lives.

Rose married Ralph Borman in May of 1956. Together they had 3 children, Mike, Randy, and Debbie. In 1965 her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jesse and Dani Borman were killed in a plane crash. Ralph and Rose welcomed their 3 children, Kathy, Marsha, and Julie into their home to raise as their own.

Rose was a devoted wife, a compassionate and loving mother.  She was also an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Evansville where she helped lead the Golden Age Group who served meals to retirees and the elderly for over 25 years.  Rose loved sewing, tole painting, crafts and above all, her grandchildren.  She participated in the Farmerettes Home Ec Group, Girl Scout Leader, and Cub Scout Leader.  Rose loved to travel and was proud to have visited all 50 states.

She is survived by Mike and Connie Borman, Randy and Kelley Borman, Debbie and Kenan Schultheis; grandchildren, Ben Schultheis, Nick Borman, Courtnie Dickerson, Heather Coudret, Jenny Morris, Dr. Daniel Borman, and Wes Borman. Rose leaves behind 7 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind Kathy Truman, Marsha Unruh, and Julie Clark, all of Colorado, her sister, Roberta Wellmeyer of Holland IN and several nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 48 years, Ralph, in 2004; sisters, Luella Heilmann, Wilma Buse, and Eleanor Loehr; brothers, Eldo Weitkamp and Robert Weitkamp.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Danny Walker officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
