Ruth C. (Yeager) Reid

Ruth C. Reid, age 92, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 3:46 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

Ruth was born April 25, 1927, in Evansville, IN, to Charles H. and Myda L. (Schaffer) Yeager. She graduated from Central High School in 1944. Ruth was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church since 1967. She was a State PTA President from 1975-1977 and Deaconess Auxillary President. With Deaconess Auxillary, she volunteered 21,000 hours and, while residing at The Good Samaritan Home, she volunteered 3,000 hours.  Ruth was a member of Sinawik and Daughters of the Nile. She received the Salvation Army “Others Award” and Sagamore of the Wabash.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Charles Reid and Robert Reid (Lynda) both of Evansville, IN, Richard Reid (Debbie) of Newburgh, IN; and John Reid (Susan) of Evansville, IN; sister, Karleen Gagnon of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Andrew, Jenna, Amanda, Laura, Samuel, John Michael, Jason, Aaron and Shannon; and 7 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 64 years, Emerson, who passed away in 2010; brother, Charles Yeager, who passed away in 2001; and granddaughter, Sarah Reid, who passed away in 1992.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5130 Lincoln Avenue with Pastor Jim Clark officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN.
