Wendell Ray Hudson, age 53, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 2:40 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at his home.
Wendell was born August 6, 1964, in Bedford, IN, to the late Myron and Dorothy (Smith) Hudson. He graduated from Bedford North Lawrence High School and continued his education at Harding University, studying journalism. Wendell was passionate about journalism, worked as a reporter for WBIW radio station and The Bedford Times Mail, and was proud to be a producer for Eyewitness News WEHT WTVW. He loved his family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. Wendell’s favorite pastime, however, was being “PopPop” to his favorite little guy, Cole. Wendell was a huge sports fan and always looked forward to refereeing the local basketball and football games in his free time. He was a member of the Newburgh Church of Christ where he would happily step in as an interim preacher and share his love for God whenever needed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, LuAnn (Thummler) Hudson; step-sons, Christopher Rhodaback (Amanda) of Newburgh, IN and Spencer Ellsperman of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Cole Rhodaback of Newburgh, IN; sister, Debbie Butler; brother, Tom Hudson; 5 nephews; 3 great-nieces; 5 great-nephews; and a very large, loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Dorothy (Smith) Hudson; grandparents, Dan and Eva Hudson; grandparents, Cotton and Elizabeth Smith; grandson, Zane Rhodaback.
Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN. Burial will be Private.
Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until service time, Friday, June 22, 2018 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
