William "Ed" Willis

William “Ed” Willis, age 83, of Chandler, IN, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at home.

Ed was born February 25, 1935, in Evansville, IN, to the late William Ermil and Sarah Lucille (Perkins) Willis. He graduated from Chandler High School in 1954 where he was a starter for the Varsity basketball team. Ed was a member of Faith Church of the Nazarene in Evansville. He was a licensed, bonded auctioneer, worked for General Electric building jet engines, was part owner of the family car lot, and went on to be a field engineer and later retiring in 1993 as maintenance supervisor for Alcoa after 17 years. Ed sang lead in several gospel groups and was known for his singing of “How Great Thou Art.” He enjoyed traveling, collecting antique cars, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Donna M. (Camp) Willis; daughters, Rhonda Kavanaugh (Tracy) of Newburgh, IN and Robin Willis (Kerry) of Evansville, IN; brothers, Joe Willis of Chandler, IN, Don Willis of Newburgh, IN, and Gary Willis of Chandler, IN; grandchildren, Jason Willis, Lindsey Nickrand, Megan Robbins, Haley Allen, Kelsey Kavanaugh, and Kerryngton Seavers; and 6 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ermil Willis and Bob Willis.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Cathy West officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018 and from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
