Alfred William Mueller

Alfred William Mueller, age 99, of Evansville IN, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Mt. Vernon Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Al was born November 23, 1924, in Evansville, IN, to the late Albert and Christine (Renner) Mueller. He was a graduate of Reitz High School and later attended Purdue University and Evansville College. He was a Veteran in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater. Following his military duty, Al married Juanita Wright. He worked for Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville for many years. In the early 70s, they moved to Fort Smith, AR, where he was transferred, and he retired as an Engineer after many years of service. During his retirement years, they joined a camping club and enjoyed camping and traveling in their motor home throughout the West and Mid-West with friends and relatives. Al was a Mason with Reed Lodge, where he recently celebrated 75 years, and he was a lifetime member of the Hadi Shrine. He enjoyed dancing at the VFW Post 1114, was an avid bowler, and in his spare time, he enjoyed an occasional game of golf...but only on the “good weather days.”

Al is survived by his daughter, Diana Groves; son, Steven Mueller (Christine); grandchildren, Steven Robert Groves, Cathy Caine (Brandon), Andrew Groves (Darci), Alan Mueller (Erin), Christopher Mueller, Jeremiah Brune, Joshua Brune (Allison); 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Al is preceded in death by his parents; and loving wife of 55 years. Juanita Mueller, who passed away 1997.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, with Pastor Cliff Herring officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will render military rites.

Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time, Friday, August 9, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
