Allen Gene Bristow, age 95, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Good Samaritan Home.
Allen was born November 27, 1927, in Evansville, IN, to Calvin H. and Carrie A. (Eastwood) Bristow. He graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1945 and was a life-long member of Union United Church of Christ where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Allen was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and a member of the American Legion VFW Post 1114. He retired from Royal Crown Bottling Company after many years of service in various jobs such as welding, mechanical, and where he was known for hand-painting the RC logo on their fleet. Allen loved his family and grandkids and was affectionately known as “Pop.”
Allen is survived by his son, Larry Bristow; daughter, Jody Eades (Jack); grandson, Bryce Norvell (April); great grandchildren, Brock Norvell and Jazmine Hawes; and niece, Carla Bergdoll (Jim).
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Carrie Bristow; wife of 62 years, Joyce E. (Agnew) Bristow, who passed away in 2011; brothers, James B. Bristow, Fredrick V. Bristow, and Donald E. Bristow; and special friend, Pearl Crabtree.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Michael Erwin officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans will render full military rites.
Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2023, and the Marine Corps League will hold a military presentation at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 12:00 p.m. until service time, Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
