Andrea (Breidenbach) Bell

Andrea Bell, age 81, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Linda E. White Hospice House with her family.

Andrea was born January 27, 1942, in Evansville, IN, to James and Iva (Toelke) Breidenbach.

She graduated from Central High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Lyle Bell, and together they had two daughters. Andrea was a preschool teacher at Bethel UCC in Evansville. She took great pride in helping many little ones get a start in education. Andrea loved traveling with her family, shopping (especially for shoes), decorating, gardening and spending time with her rescue dog, Annie. She was a devoted friend and had many lifelong friends who she considered an extension of her family.

Andrea is survived by her daughters, Melissa Gwaltney-Shehorn (Tim) and Amy Wilhite (Stan); grandchildren, Andrea Taylor (Greg), Logan Wilhite (Mollie), Josh Gwaltney (Sydney), Landon Wilhite and Brian Shehorn; great grandchildren, Jackie Gwaltney and Nora Taylor; sisters-in-law Susie Young (Jack) and Ginny Lapcheska; best friend of 67 years, Brenda Martin; and many beloved cousins, aunts, and friends who were very special to her.

Andrea is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years, Lyle; sister, Donna Pleiss; and grandson, Jake Gwaltney.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Denny Stevenson officiating. Andrea will be cremated. Per Andrea and Lyle’s wishes, their ashes will be joined and scattered near their favorite place, Grand Teton National Park.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
