Barbara A. Sperling, age 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on April 1, 2026, at Celebration Villa of Newburgh.
Barbara was born on March 29, 1938, in Evansville, Indiana, to George W. and Dorothy (McErvane) Bassett. She graduated from Bosse High School in the Class of 1955.
Barbara was a faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church for over 64 years, where she dedicated much of her time serving as a Sunday School teacher and assistant treasurer. She was a devoted woman of faith who found great joy in serving her church and community.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Sims Painting, Deig Brothers Construction, and River Bend Mechanical for many years, retiring in 2011. Barbara was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and steady presence both in her career and in her personal life.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Edmond “Johnny” Sperling II (Randa), and George W. “Bill” Sperling (Deana); 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Dorothy (McErvane) Bassett; beloved husband of 65 years, Edmond J. "EJ" Sperling; and sister, Sharon Luttrell.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2026 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Alan Jackson officiating. Private Entombment will be in Oak Hill Mausoleum.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until time of service., Monday, April 6, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
