Bernice Catherine (Schaefer) Fenwick

Bernice Catherine (Schaefer) Fenwick, age 80, of Slaughters, KY, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at home with her family by her side.

Bernice was born August 23, 1943, in Evansville, IN, to the late Leo and Barbara (Elpers) Schaefer. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1961 and was of the Catholic faith. Bernice retired from Qualex after working for twenty years as a photo finisher, and then she retired from Tyson Foods as an IQF food prep worker after eight years of service. She enjoyed camping and loved her animals: cougar (years ago), big birds, and little dogs. She enjoyed being outside, watching butterflies and hummingbirds. She’d set up her bird feeders and even wear red to attract the hummingbirds. Bernice loved collecting items: Christmas decorations and villages, figurines, wind chimes, seasonal wreaths, and lighthouses. She especially loved her family and enjoyed hosting family gatherings.

Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas D. Fenwick; children, Doug Fenwick (Katrina), Dennis Fenwick (Sonya), and Darrell Fenwick, and Donna Keller (James); grandchildren, Crystal (Betty), Danielle (Joseph), Brandon (Emily), Steven (Bailey), Matthew (Amanda), Teresa, Jordan (Kayla), Brett, Lexi, Brooklyn, Josh (Jennifer), Anthony, Sophia (Brandon), and Aaron (Emma); 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and brother, Urban Schaefer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Father Ted Tempel officiating. Burial will be Private.

Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until service time, Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
