July 13, 2025, Betty A. Hawkins, 82, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side.
Betty (BB to those who knew and loved her) was the second of three children born on February 23, 1943, to Thomas and Kathryn (Brandt) Vaughn of Evansville, IN. She was a Central High School and Lockyear Business College graduate. She married the love of her life in April of 1975, and they spent the next 48 years together.
Active until the end, she was never idle. When she wasn’t working at Macy’s, where she recently retired after 33 years as the Mark Down Lead, you would find her shopping or entertaining friends and family; and if she wasn’t busy with other activities, she was cleaning an already spotless and beautiful home.
Betty loved her “kids:” Carla, Ashley, and Zachary and always found time to support them. In fact, her nickname “BB” was given to her by Carla when she was a baby and couldn’t pronounce her name.
Betty is survived by her very special niece who she saw as a daughter, Carla Bledsoe (Michael); very special great niece, Ashley Millsap (Taylor); very special great nephew, Zachary Bledsoe; step daughters, Kathryn Hasten (Jeffrey), Karen Stout, and Kelly Lanman (Jim); and step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie J. Hawkins, who passed away in 2023; and brother, Carl Vaughn.
The family would like to give special thanks to her good friends: Linda Libs, Jeri Kenning, and Kathy Curtis for their love and to Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN, with Father Ted Temple officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may visit from 12:30 p.m. until service time, Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
