Betty Joyce (Phillips) Brown, age 93, of Evansville, IN, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville.
Betty was born February 17, 1931, in Sebree, KY, to Thomas and Eva (Floyd) Phillips. She graduated from Reitz High School, was a faithful member of First Pentecost Church for over 60 years, and more recently was a member of Life Tabernacle Church of God. She worked many years as a Seamstress for Shane’s Uniforms and TJ Maxx. Betty was an avid reader, and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, diamond art, quilting, and watching Westerns. She loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren who affectionally called her Mammaw Brown.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Darlene Weyer, Debbie Dant, Kimberly Dwojak (Jerome), and Karen Durbin (David); sons, Earl Brown and Randy Brown; 5th daughter, Connie Pipes; brothers, Rev. Dr. Donald Phillips (Carol) and Doug Phillips; sister-in-law, Jan Phillips; grandchildren, Amanda Pearson (William), Daymond Pruiett, Eric Hardin, Brooke Lehmann (Justin), Daniel Brown, and Magen Bhanji (Nadeem); numerous great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eva Phillips; infant sister, Jewel Phillips; sisters, Edith, Agnes, and Erma Phillips; and brothers, Thomas Jr., Estal, and Roy Phillips.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST, Monday, August 5, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Eddie Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time CST, Monday, August 5, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
