Betty Omer Obituary

Betty Joyce (Daniels) Omer, age 90, of Evansville, IN, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.

Betty was born December 20, 1933, in Madisonville, KY, to Floyd and Myrtle (Russell) Daniels. She met Jim at a Jukebox, and it was love at first sight. They married two years later and shared the love of a lifetime. In her younger years, she loved dancing the Jitter Bug with her sisters and making ceramics. She loved music, especially 50s Music, Classic Country Music (especially Glen Campbell, Elvis, Reba, and Kenny Rogers), and the Gaither Vocal Band. Betty was the Yard Saling Queen, going every weekend with her sisters, and she also enjoyed watching Classical Movies. Betty loved sharing her home and her life with her family and friends. She had a contagious laugh and everyone who met her, loved her. Her heart and life was to serve and love others (and to feed them). Her whole life and actions of love went far beyond what words can say.

During her children’s younger years, Betty enjoyed family time on their boat and spending time at Barkley Lake. While her son, Barry was busy working and making a living, Betty selflessly devoted her life to her granddaughter, Jessica. Jessica would like to say that she wouldn’t be the woman she is today without her grandmother lovingly molding her during her formative years. During the last ten years, Betty’s daughter, Pam was her mom’s devoted caregiver and best friend. She was her whole world after Jim passed away.

Betty loved the Lord and was an active, faithful member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church from 1978 until James passed away in 2014. She then joined her sisters at Christian Fellowship Church where she then transferred her church membership. When she could no longer attend in person, she loved watching Billy Graham and Jimmy Swaggart’s services on her television.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Pamela Lee Omer; son, Barry Omer (Sally); sisters, Barbara Sellers and Peggy Wilhite; brother, Roger Daniels (Kay); sister-in-law, Freda Daniels; brother-in-law, David Julian; granddaughter, Jessica Dillman (Denis Hirsch); great grandson, Brodie Dillman; and Denis’ two boys who were like her grandchildren, Parker Hirsch, and Tucker Hirsch; nephew whom she loved like a son, Tom Wilhite (Angelli); and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Myrtle Daniels; beloved husband of 59 years, James C. “Jim” Omer; sisters, Dorothy Buchanan (Rock) and Sandra Julian; brother, Clarence Daniels; and brothers-in-law, George Sellers and Darrell Whilhite.
