On July 1, 2021, Betty Louise Peach Paddock, wife of Ralph, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Evansville. She was 89 and, as we all know well, there was only one Betty.
She was born in Duff, Indiana, on May 9, 1932, one of 8 children of Lee and Mary Peach. She grew up in Evansville, where she met her dear Ralph and married in 1951. They were inseparable for 45 wonderful years, until Ralph’s passing in 1997. They had three wonderful children – Steve, Joyce, and Tamara – and served the community in many ways. Betty was happiest serving others. She worked the soda fountain at Wood’s Drug Store, became an annual fixture at the Fall Festival, slinging fried onion rings and pronto pups, and she turned the cafeteria of Old National Bank into the friendliest eatery in town. Her chicken and dumpling skills were world class, matched only by her pineapple upside down cake. Besides her day job and raising three children, she taught Sunday School and was a pastor’s wife for over 40 years. Always committed to first serving the Lord and being an inspiration and example of faith to others.
Betty is survived by her son Steve Paddock and wife Cinda, of Evansville; daughter Tamara Paddock Schirmer and husband Mark, of Ann Arbor, MI; Son-in-Law John Rexing of Evansville, whose wife Joyce Paddock Rexing passed in 2009. She will be missed by all, including her brother Jerry Peach and wife Suzie, of Evansville, and her six grandchildren—Holly Paddock Goebel and husband Dan, Spencer Paddock, Robert and Henry Schirmer, and Lily and Isiah Rexing—and four great-grandchildren, Savannah, Sydney, Porter and Emmerson Goebel.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, daughter Joyce, sisters Thelma Anderson, Kathleen Tabor, Emma Jean Tabor, Velma Peach and brothers Delbert and Edgar Lee Peach.
