Billy F. Garner, age 96, of Newburgh, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Hamilton Pointe Assisted Living.
Billy was born July 10, 1929, in Big Sandy, TN, to Monroe M. and Rosa E. (Pierce) Garner. He graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1947, was a past member of Terrace Park General Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and more recently, he was a member of Howell General Baptist Church. Billy worked for a short time for B.O Railroad in Ohio, for 28 years with SIGECO before retiring, and for 13 years with Big Rivers Electric Corp before retiring in 1992, a second time. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, and he especially loved reading his Bible and listening to music.
Billy is survived by his daughters, Katherine Veatch (Joe) of Newburgh, IN, and Debra Stroud (Mark) of Owensville, IN; grandchildren, Andrea Flores (Eddie), Neil Stroud, Stacey Dehart (Cody), and Joy Murphy (Derek); 5 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 67 years, Clara “Jean” (Berry) Garner, who passed away in 2016; daughter, Teresa Garner Bean, who passed away in 1978; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Graveside Services were Private at Park Lawn Mausoleum.
The family would like to say a special, heartfelt Thank You to the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care, to Dad’s nurses at Hamilton Pointe Assisted Living for their loving kindness, and to Howell General Baptist Church for all the cards and visits.
