Billy J. Gammon, Jr., age 40, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 2:21 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Deaconess Hospital.
Billy had a presence that was larger than life and he wanted to share his light, love, joy and lust for life with everyone around him. He lived life to the fullest and excelled at all he attempted and enjoyed the many successes throughout the many chapters of his life. Billy was a successful business owner through the many years of business endeavors. Most notably, through running Buck’s Bar for over a decade, through which he gained so many friendships throughout the years.
Billy lived more life in the 40 years than most could in two lifetimes. He enjoyed sharing his life successes and incredible experiences with all those around him, especially, with his family, some blood, but most earned. Throughout Billy’s life were so many shared adventures; snowboarding trips, extreme camping (if you go then you know), cruises, numerous vacations and boating outings. One boat was just not enough because he wanted everyone to be able to be together, whether it be a quick getaway, relaxation time, or just enjoy life alongside him. Each 4th of July he helped light up the sky with fireworks for his friends, family and community. Billy loved the outdoors and spent many nights out with friends hunting. He was the man you could always count on, call and depend on to pickup and he would be the first one there to help. Billy was such a bright, energetic presence to all around him in every aspect of his life. He lived his life with a vibrant spirit, a light so bright, that his loss will be felt far and wide for all time.
Billy took most pride in himself being the most amazing, loving, dedicated father. He was so proud as he watched, Landon, grow into the wonderful man he has become. His two special angels, Aubree and Ava, were ultimate Daddy’s Girls and his entire world. Their love knew no boundaries and his loss will leave a void that will be felt forever.
Billy is survived by his mother, Deanna Herbert (Kip); father, Bill Gammon (Tina); children, Landon Cardwell (Kallie Fox), Aubree (mother, Shae Gammon) and Ava (mother, Meagen Gammon); step-son, Braxton Hollis; sister, Angi Chappell (Brandon); brother, Branden Gammon; grandmother, Denise Betz; aunts, Marion Jones and Cyndi Townsend; uncle, David Betz (Ann); nieces, Destini Chappell and Kayleigh Hendrix; nephew, Tryce Gammon; step-siblings, James Sweeney (Stephanie), Holly Sweeney and Amy Huff (Michael Gauer); many cousins; and blessed to have too many loyal friends to mention.
Billy is preceded in death by his brother, Jeremy Herbert; and nephew, Tyler Chappell.
