Blonnie "Verline" (Simmons) DeHaven

Blonnie “Verline” (Simmons) DeHaven, age 87, of Evansville, IN, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at home with her family by her side.

Verline was born May 26, 1936 in Ashbyburg, KY, to Gillis H. and Blonnie F. (Seaton) Simmons. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1954 and was a life-long member of The Salvation Army Church. Verline worked for Old Fashion Butcher Shop on Stringtown Road for 12 years before retiring. She volunteered at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. Verline enjoyed quilting, bowling, and taking care of her flower garden. She loved her family, and she especially loved attending her great grandson’s baseball games.

Verline is survived by her daughter, Judith Basham (Dennis Crabtree); grandchildren, Steven Stuart (Dawn), Brandi Clifford (Jeremy), John, Nichole, Bradley, Zacharey, Dustin, and Brent; great-grandchildren, Trinton Clark, Haeden Stuart, and Jaxon Clifford; and sisters, Geraldine Dame and Janet Gibson (Richard).

Verline is preceded in death by her parents, Gillis and Blonnie Simmons; husband of 31 years, Bob Ray DeHaven, who passed away in 2015; sister, Ruby Orene; and brothers, Donald Simmons and Gillis Simmons.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Major Loren Carter officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time, Friday, October 13, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
