Brenda Lee (Fleener) Orem

Brenda Lee (Fleener) Orem, age 67, of Wadesville, IN, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Linda E. White Hospice House.

Brenda was born September 30, 1957 in Evansville, IN, to the late Gary and Marilyn (Gurley) Fleener. She graduated from North Posey High School in 1975 and went on to earn her Bachelors (1979) and Masters (1982) Degrees in Education. Brenda taught special education in the North Posey School Corporation from 1979 through 2009, and she spent most of her time teaching at South Terrace Elementary School in Blairsville, IN. Brenda loved the challenge of helping students who were struggling, and she pushed her students to achieve milestones that seemed impossible.

People are often too complex to describe in only a few sentences, and Brenda is no exception. Perhaps the most important thing about Brenda was her love for Jesus and her trust in His salvation. She was an active participant of Encounter Church and Christian Fellowship Church. Brenda was proud of her family and was known to brag about her husband, children, and grandchildren to everyone she knew. She loved to host family gatherings, cook, and create special memories for everyone in her family, especially her grandchildren.

Brenda enjoyed many hobbies, with her favorite hobby being reading. Since she was a teen, Brenda would read multiple books a week. She was thrilled when her sister began working at a library and was able to expedite her access to books.

Brenda thoroughly enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, and freezing home-grown produce, a hobby and way of life passed down from her grandmother. Brenda loved to travel. Throughout her retirement, she and her husband, Blaine, took multiple trips each year to different destinations around the United States, often accompanied by their favorite travel companions, Jim and Kathy Petrig.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Blaine Lewis Orem; children, Sarah Hayes (Scott) and Josh Orem (Lindsey); beloved grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammy, Elijah, Samuel, Anna, and Owen; sisters, Diane Wilson and Laura Pate (Martin); and four nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., 2024, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Christian Fellowship Church, 4100 Millersburg Road, Evansville, with Pastor Cliff Herring officiating. Burial will be in Poseyville Cemetery, Poseyville, IN.

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, and from 9:00 a.m. until service time, 2024, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Christian Fellowship Church.
