Carl Bozsa Obituary

Carl Edward Bozsa, age 79, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, peacefully at home.

Carl was born September 25, 1943, in Lancaster, CA, to the late Charles and Ethel (Zengler) Bozsa. He graduated from Mascoutah High School in 1961, where he lettered in baseball 4 years.  Carl attended Southern Illinois University.  During high school he met the love of his life – Rosemary (Botsford). They married in 1965. Together they were blessed with 2 sons and 3 grandchildren, whom they adore and treasure dearly.

Carl began his career in energy at Peabody Coal Company in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was the youngest landman to be hired. During his career, he worked for several energy companies building a solid foundation which eventually led him to start his own company, Independent Resources. Carl spent over 50 years in the land business where he was respected and admired.

Carl had a passion for the outdoors and an adventurous spirit. He was a licensed pilot and loved flying to St. Louis for Cardinals games. He enjoyed golfing, baseball, basketball, fishing, and boating. Carl had a talent for music and shared his talents with his sons and grandchildren, together they played guitar and violin. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Carl is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Rosemary (Botsford) Bozsa; his children, Craig (Greta) Bozsa, Bryan (Sonya) Bozsa; his grandchildren, Melanie (Andrea) Bozsa, Katie Bozsa, & Ashton Carl Bozsa; his siblings, Patty (Ted) Tiemeyer, Carol (Dale) Stovall, Bob (Nila) Bozsa, Cindy (Jerry) Davis, & David Bozsa; & many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to John & Maggie Kayser and Rick & Jane Baxter for their love and support.

A Celebration of Life to be held at a future date.
