Carolyn Winkler Obituary

Carolyn Sue (Sager) Camp Winkler, age 88, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehab.

Carolyn was born August 31, 1936, in Borger, TX, to Frank E. and Etta L. (Richardson) Sager. Back in the 70s, she worked three jobs while raising her three children. She was a secretary for Grimm Lumber, an apartment Manager, and a cocktail waitress for Excalibur Bar & Grill at the Victory Theatre. Later in life, she and her son, David, successfully owned and operated a catering company, My Own Chef. They were the first meal prep company in the Evansville area. She was a wonderful cook, excellent seamstress, and talented watercolor painter who held local art shows for her work. Carolyn was a former member of Christ Church UCC, and most recently, she attended Wadesville Christian Church. She loved listening to Spanish guitar music. She also enjoyed going out to eat and reading mysteries. Carolyn loved her family, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Connie Burlison of Madisonville, KY; son, David Camp of Evansville, IN; stepdaughter, Jennifer Meyer (Larry) of Newburgh, IN; stepsons, Charles “Chuck” Winkler and John Winkler; grandchildren, Sarah Knight (Matthew) and Mariah Burlison; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Jordan, Kaytlyn Mosby, Zechariah Burlison, and Celeste King; and 8 great great grandchildren.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Etta Sager; second husband, Charles E. Winkler, who passed away in 1992; son, Gary Camp, who passed away in 2014; sister, Cherri Tussey, who passed away this past summer; an infant sister; and an infant brother.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. CST, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN, with Pastor Betsy Speis and Dr. John Charles officiating. Burial will be Private in Billett Cemetery, Billett, IL.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. CST, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
