Catherine Ashby

Catherine “Kate” A. Ashby, age 95, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN.

Kate was born December 8, 1924, in Francisco, IN, to Charles Arbuthnot and Hazel Mitchell Arbuthnot. She graduated Francisco High School in 1942 and married Robert “Bob” Ashby in1943. Kate was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she enjoyed being a quilter. She was a former member of Francisco United Methodist Church. Kate and Bob lived in Francisco, her hometown, for the first 25 years of their married life, and they have lived in Evansville since 1967.

Kate is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Ashby; grandchildren, Terry Ashby, Jr. and Kyle Ashby.

Kate is preceded in death by her parents; husband, to whom she was married for 76 years, Robert Ashby; son, Terry Ashby; sisters, Dorothy Hightower, Madge Benedict, and Gail LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor George Purnell officiating. Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
