Charles Henry Gee, Jr., age 79, of Evansville, IN. formerly of Santa Cruz, CA, passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Golden Living-Woodbridge.

Charles was born December 23, 1941, in Evansville, IN, to Charles H. Gee I and Christine (Fields). He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959. Charles played for the American Negro League from 1958 until 1961. He relocated to California with his family, where he became a police officer with UC Santa Cruz. He also service in the United States Army and Navy.  Charles later returned to Evansville where he worked for the Vanderburgh County Highway Department. Charles was a sports fanatic; he loved University of Kentucky, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved cooking and grilling out for family and friends, and even volunteered for the Local Soup Kitchen.

Charles is survived by his children, Charles H. Gee III, Terri Hughes, Patrice D. Gee-Hamm (Frederico); brother, Frederick Gee; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Charles also leaves behind his partner, Carolyn Stagg.   

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernice; grandmother; wife, Marilyn M. Gee-Buffington; and son, Devon Gee who passed away in 2012. 

Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. Service begins at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2021, at St. Joseph Mausoleum with Minister Mike Woodall. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
